The newly seated Wellington Council will be charged with making a quick decision on who will be the final member.
The four council members will be sworn in Tuesday night and then have 30 days to pick their fifth. The seat is vacant because councilwoman Anne Gerwig resigned to run for mayor.
The council will make decisions Tuesday on how the process will go. Last time around, the applicants all made short presentations and were ranked.
There are no specifics in the charter other than the time frame, so the council can decide to do it differently if it wants.
The council will also likely discuss the possibility of sending out a charter amendment referendum to change the process to a special election. It would require a simple majority of the voters to pass. Wellington has two possibilities coming up with a primary in August and the general election in November.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in Village Hall.
