‘Aladdin’ to be performed in English and Spanish at local school

GREENACRES — Disney’s “Aladdin” will be performed in Spanish and English tonight and Friday at Okeeheelee Middle School by its International Spanish Academy.

The performances are the first time a bilingual adaptation of the hit movie will be performed by a middle school east of the Mississippi River, according to The Palm Beach County School District.

The shows will be at 6:30 p.m. at Okeeheelee Middle, 2200 Pinehurst Drive. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for kids under 12 and are available at the box office.

The dual language version of “Aladdin” features the Oscar-winning score from the animated classic with lyrics in both Spanish and English.

The bilingual version required a revamped plot where the royalty of Agrabah speaks one language while citizens speaks another.
