Greenacres council to discuss how to appoint a deputy mayor

Greenacres City HallGREENACRES — The City Council at tonight’s meeting is scheduled to discuss establishing procedures on appointing a deputy mayor.

If you recall, there was a little drama at the last meeting when Councilman Peter Noble made a motion to appoint Paula Bousquet deputy mayor to replace Jonathan Pearce.

Councilwoman Judy Dugo said she wanted Pearce to keep that title because of his professionalism.

The deputy mayor title rotates each year among council members, with that person appointed at the first regularly scheduled council meeting in April. The current policy states no council member can serve as deputy mayor for two consecutive years, something Noble, and now Pearce, have done.

Coucilwoman Lisa Rivera requested the policy be placed on tonight’s agenda for discussion.
