Wellington council approves PBSO enforcement plan

The Wellington Village Council approved a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office plan Tuesday night that calls for a crackdown on juvenile crime and traffic crashes in the next year.

Juvenile crime, especially property crime, makes up a sizable chunk of Wellington’s total offenses. PBSO plans to dedicate two deputies to a unit that focuses on those issues.

There is also an increasing crash rate in the village, especially along State Road 7, which continues to get more busy with more construction projects. Deputies plan to look for unsafe driving throughout the village to get that crash rate down by increasing enforcement.

You can read for about the plan’s specifics in this week’s Wellington column.
