Wellington prepares as storm system nears Florida

The storm moving toward Florida doesn’t look like it’s going to be as bad as people feared, but Wellington is preparing for the worst.

Village officials are getting ready for heavy rain and moderate winds by lowering water levels to help prevent flooding. They’re also asking residents to stop “cutting and placing curbside any vegetation or bulk items until the storm passes.”

Heavy rain is likely Monday and Tuesday as the system moves through. The current track doesn’t have it passing right through Palm Beach County, but it will get close enough to hit the area with rain and winds.

Wellington will also be posting updates with information specific to village residents.
