Wellington Vice Mayor will seek re-election in 2018

Wellington’s Vice Mayor has already announced that he will be looking to keep his seat next year.

John McGovern was appointed to the village council in early 2015, serving for about a year before being re-elected unopposed in 2016 for the final two years of former councilman Howard Coates’s term.

The 2018 run will be for the standard four-year term. He was voted to the Vice Mayor position by the council as he was the second most senior member of the board after the 2016 election.

“Increasing property values, lowering property taxes, partnering with the School District to ensure we have “A” rated schools, keeping Wellington one of the safest places in Palm Beach County, making strategic infrastructure improvements and committing to policies that serve all of Wellington, are and always will be my primary focus,” McGovern said in an announcement email.
